2025 November Activity Calendar

With frosty mornings, twinkling lights beginning to glow, and the promise of the holiday season ahead, this month invites us to gather, celebrate, and embrace the joy of togetherness.

This month is a gentle reminder to savor cozy comforts, reflect with gratitude, and find joy in the simple moments. Let’s welcome November with warmth and the coziest crafts.

Let's Get Started

November 1 - Happy Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

In Waldorf education, seasonal crafts are a beautiful way to connect children with the rhythms of the year, cultural traditions, and the joy of handwork. Creating window transparencies is one of the most beloved Waldorf-inspired art activities, blending color, light, and symbolism in a way that transforms any home or classroom. For families looking to celebrate cultural festivals with mindfulness and creativity, a Día de los Muertos transparency craft offers a gentle introduction to this vibrant Mexican tradition.

November 2 - Daylight Savings

Daylight Saving Time is a way people try to use daylight better. In the summer, we move our clocks ahead by one hour. This makes the sun seem to set later, so we get more light in the evening to play, work, or spend time outside. Different countries change their clocks on different days.

November 7 - Make a Star Lantern

The festival of Martinmas is traditionally celebrated on November 11. It honors the story of St. Martin, patron saint of beggars and outcasts, who was known for his gentleness and ability to bring light and warmth to those in need. These gentle lanterns of Martinmas help us remember to kindle the warmth and light in our own spirits.

November 8 - Craft Miniature Waldorf Lanterns

Going on a lantern walk is an enchanting experience for young and old. The warm glow of the flickering candle, the dark sky against the bright lanterns, and the taste of a hot cup of apple cider on a cold late autumn’s eve are sure to turn the festival of Martinmas into a longstanding tradition for all family members. In the following tutorial, you will learn to craft two types of miniature lanterns that are sure to bring joy to tiny hands (without the risk of burning themselves) as well as add a magical touch to autumnal seasonal tables. These beautiful lantern crafts come from our friend Franziska at My Seasonal Treasury.

With the hustle and bustle of holidays all around us, it's important to find time to ground yourself and your children. In Waldorf tradition, the Season of Advent is one of reconnecting with the natural world. This advent calendar will help you mark the weeks leading up to Christmas by considering the beauty of stones, plants, animals and other human beings. November 17 - Create Your Own Felt Advent Calendar

The days are growing shorter here in the Northern Hemisphere, the leaves are falling, animals are preparing to hibernate, and we are all called to slow down and rest as the temperatures grow colder. The festival of Advent is a balancing force to this darkness and slowness. It brings anticipation and expectation while we forge our way through the darkest months. The four-week festival of Advent calls us to grow closer with the natural world around us, honoring the four kingdoms of this natural world.

November 23 - Create Your Winter Nature Table

Creating a seasonal nature table in your home is a way to bring the beauty of the natural world indoors, and to help children connect more deeply with nature. It gives them a space to collect the special treasures they've found outdoors on nature walks, and an altar of sorts to come back to for reverence. The ritual of changing the table's decorations in the beginning of each season, or month even, helps them to become aware of the natural rhythms of the year.
