Today on the blog our sweet friend Laura, @cosy.waldorf.fam, has created this craft for us.
These Mythical Moss Stones are a very beginner friendly felt crafts project. It requires very few materials and is doesn't take much time making it the perfect little felt crafts project to bring some childhood magic into your home. Wrapped in soft wool and felted around a sparkling mineral, each stone holds a secret waiting to be revealed. Inspired by the tales of gnomes who tuck away treasures for those who care for the earth, these stones invite storytelling, sensory play, and a touch of enchantment into your home.

Gather Your Supplies
- Mineral stones of choice
- Sheep’s wool in different tones of green
- Very warm water + a drop of olive-based soap
- Curd soap
- optional: tiny glass beads, embroidery floss & pine essential oil
Craft Your Own Felt Craft Mythical Moss Stones
Step 1:
Take a good amount of sheep’s wool, pull it slightly flat, place your stone in the middle, and wrap the wool around the mineral stone.

Step 2:
Dip the wool in very warm water (don’t squeeze out) and roll gently with soapy hands for 5 minutes. Then add thinner pieces of green wool in other tones. You may need to change your water through the project, to really make sure it’s always very warm.
Step 3:
Dip into the very warm water again, make your hands soapy, and roll for about 15 minutes. At the end, you can roll it on a towel to make sure it’s firm.

Step 4:
Once firm, wash and place into a bowl of ice-cold water for about 10 minutes. Then let dry completely.

Step 5:
Once dry, carefully cut one side open to reveal the mineral stone.

Step 6:
Optional: Decorate your Mythical Moss Stone with glass beads and embroidery floss and add a few drops of pine essential oil for an extra sensory touch.
